CCF Tapes Prison Ministry came into existence some time before July 1986. In that time we have been sending tapes to prisoners, many of whom have little other spiritual input. It is humblng to see their spiritual growth in such a difficult environment but there are still many challenges that face this ministry. Read on and find out more about this vital ministry and how can support it in prayer.
About 20 years ago we started sending BBS tapes free to prisoners with a letter in each parcel of tapes, with a few long-term prisoners receiving STS tapes. Some are very glad to correspond and ask searching questions about the Bible and some share their personal concerns. It has been a privilege to witness the spiritual growth of these men as they study and come to understand the Word.
Some have good fellowship and encouraging Spirit-filled Chaplains who see their potential and nourish their growth in the Lord. Others have little spiritual input apart from the tapes, so please pray that there will be more caring, dedicated Spirit-filled Chaplains in prisons.
In recent years there has been difficulty in sending tapes and books into prisons because so many things have been used as vehicles for drugs. Some prison Chaplains are willing to receive and pass on tapes. Often the prisoners have to pass the tapes to the prison library after they have listened to them. Please pray that more prisons will have a library of Roger's talks and other edifying Christian material.
Please pray for "C" who has just been released and "S" who is about to be released. Both are reformed characters, on fire for the Lord and bold in their witness of what He has done for them. Please pray that both men will adjust to life "outside" and settle into churches, homes and jobs without losing their fervour or becoming disillusioned.
Please pray for prisoners who come to know the Lord while in prison, that they will grow and be nourished in the faith. We would like to see Roger's teaching made more widely available in prisons. Please pray for the "lifers" and others on long sentences, that they will be encouraged in their walk with the Lord and have opportunities for fellowship, witness and spiritual growth, and that the Lord will touch and heal their lives.
Many prisoners have written to say what a difference Roger's teaching has made in their lives. Two wrote recently to testify that although they were behind bars, Jesus had made them free inside. Wonderful!
