Roger and his brother Martin grew up in a Christian home in nearby Portsmouth, where their father was a Methodist lay preacher. However, it was not until after he was married with children that the Lord got hold of him. Since then Roger has been greatly used to serve both CCF, where he was made an elder in 1984, and 'Living Word', the fellowship he founded in Portsmouth.

In one sense preferment cam quickly for Roger French. Four years after being saved he became Co-ordinating Elder of the Chichester Christian Fellowship. God called him out of a top job in the NHS (he was a Deputy District Administrator) to come and work full-time for the Fellowship. These days he is working just as busily in leading the Living Word Fellowship he founded in Portsmouth.

Roger was brought up in a Christian home, however, his preference throughout his youth was for sport and not church, and very successful he was too. Roger played football for several well-known local sides as well as playing cricket for Hampshire County Youth.

Having joined the NHS as a trainee administrator in the early sixties, Roger found himself handing out meal passes at Queen Alexander Hospital - a job that definitely had its upsides, as he quickly ran into a young student nurse named Sue, later to become his wife.

It wasn't until 1979, when Sue became interested in the bible and Christianity, that an interest awakened in Roger again. They went along to a public meeting, with Martin, Roger's brother, and heard Roger Price talk about the Church, and not long after gave their hearts to the Lord.

Roger and Sue had two children by this point and the change in lifestyle was something of a suprise at first. However they both were saved and baptised not too long after their parents.

Just nine months after being saved Roger was heading up a house group, and in 1984 he was made an elder with the job of creating an administrative structure within the ever growing fellowship - a job he tackled with the patience and dedication he always seems to show. Along with the growth of the adminsitrative structure came a growth in Roger's skills as a bible teacher, recording a large number of excellent tapes whilst at the fellowship.

Since Roger's move to pastures new he has been no less busy, with the new fellowship he leads in Portsmouth, Living Word, growing well and his own ministry continuing to expand. Roger has recently released an excellent set of studies on Revelation, which are well worth a listen! We are always eager to hear more from our brother so we hope that this won't be the last of the new material - check back regularly to see if there's more available.
