Part 1: The Evidence. In the first of three talks, Paul looks at the evidence supporting the resurrection as gleaned from a number of sources. Firstly, Paul demonstrates that the Biblical record both prophesies and confirms that Jesus died, was buried and rose again. He then continues by looking at the testimony of the witnesses at the time of the resurrection. There can be no doubt that Jesus was resurrected and is alive!

Part 2: The Objections. Paul first concludes the evidence for the resurrection by looking at the practices of the Church, the writings of historians such as Flavius Josephus and finally the testimony of the Church – that a personal relationship with Jesus is possible today! Paul continues by studying the objections to Christ’s resurrection and looks to systematically explain how untenable each objection is.

Part 3: The Significance. The third and final talk in this series looks at what the consequences of the resurrection are. Just as death could not hold Christ, we are no longer conquered by death but are destined to resurrection as well. Paul explains how essential the centrality of the resurrection is, for “If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain” 1 Cor. 15:14. There is also a short discussion at the end of the talk.

The first of the talks Roger gave at the FGBMFI Convention on the Isle of Wight in 1984. It is very similar to STS 85. The kings of the ancient world used to put a mark or seal on the things that belonged to them. This mark did more than just prove ownership: with it went the protection and authority of the king. God has put the seal of His blood and the seal of His Holy Spirit upon all those who believe on Him. This seal or mark upon us carries the very authority of God and means that God will fight for us should the devil or any other enemy try to affect us.
