We are called to be in the world but not of the world. We are citizens of Heaven but we currently reside in enemy occupied territory. So then how should we act towards society at large? What should be our attitude towards the government, the police, or war & revolution? These and other important issues are covered in the talks listed below.
Brian Melia's study The Christian's Responsibility In Society directly deals with this issues and is well accompanied by Roger Price's sets on Respect & Authority and The Doctrine Of War as well as other talks from the STS Series. In addition, the 7 studies of the Christ, The Nation's Last Hope set looks at what impact the Church should be having in society and how we go about making that impact.

STS 56: The Anatomy of Chaos Part 1: The Problem Exposed
Speaker: Roger PricePrice: £3.75

Part 1. It has shocked many to see what has been happening over the past few years in British society. In the midst of many secular opinions as to the root cause of these problems, we must know what God has to say about them. Firstly, Roger Price analyses the Biblical viewpoint concerning our present society, establishing the fact that once God's absolute standards are abandoned the only alternatives are consensus law or anarchy. He couples this with a strong plea against abortion. But the decay is not irreversible and in the second study he outlines the responsibilities that Christians have in society. His conclusion is that a 'Back to the Bible' movement is the surest way to national recovery.

STS 60: The Doctrine of War Part 1 - The Fall is Real
Speaker: Roger PricePrice: £3.75

The resurgence of CND, the 'peace' movements and the cries for unilateral disarmament have underlined a requirement for a careful study of what the Bible says about war. With nuclear weapons threatening our very existence, could unilateral disarmament be the answer? Is it ever right to fight and kill? Roger examines the real issues which must be tackled if biblically-consistent conclusions are to be reached in these matters. An understanding of the fall of man is an essential key in this debate - ignoring its effects only leads to a fool's paradise. Pressure groups may claim that the Bible supports them (especially Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5), so the question 'Was Jesus a Pacifist?' has to be answered and the full meaning of His teaching understood. As God never changes and the Bible is always consistent, the books of Joshua and Judges must be taken into account in order to determine the rules of warfare correctly. These are important issues for us all and will be especially helpful to those serving in the armed forces.

STS 130: The Second World War
Speaker: Roger PricePrice: £3.75

Recorded around the time of the 50th anniversary of the start of World War 2, there was a lot in the media about man's view of what happened then. In contrast, this very unusual study by Roger outlined God's view of covenants and pacts between nations, with biblical examples. He then examined what England promised (and didn't do) in the War. The conclusion, explaining what might have happened, is extremely interesting and is bound to generate some debate.
